Beat the Beetus

Name is Shelby. I am a type 1 diabetic. I have this blog to share my life as a diabetic. Help those that I can. Of any type.Though I will be able to relate to type 1 a lot more. I won't pretend to know something medically if I don't. I won't give straight out medical advice (very limited exceptions) because all of us our different with our bodies. I don't want to risk your life because something works for me. I will ask for advice and give advice. Gain support and give support. It's always nice to have people who can relate to you. <3 Feel free to ask me anything, suggest food and things that help motivate you to take better care of yourself.

I love you all! =D

Hey, I just noticed you started following me. (Most likely from my most recent Diabetic post). I just want to say thank you. For trying to help other diabetics through everything, big or small. I know we all appreciate it. I’ve been diagnosed as Diabetic ….Almost 6 months. A week tomorrow will be 6 months.

I’m a bit older to be diagnosed with type 1. (Just turned 21 a couple months ago). And my doctor’s a bit of a dweeb. I’ve been on insulin for about 5 months now. And yet he wants me to get my insulin levels checked to see whether or not I’m type 1 or 2. Would you (or anyone else you know) happen to know whether or not insulin level tests know the difference between actual real pancreatic insulin and synthetic insulin?

I was told I was type 1 by a diabetic nurse because I had a 40 pound weight loss before I was put on insulin from my sugars being so high. (39 was my diagnosis. Which for Americans that would be… 702. Yeah. i know now I was DKA.)

Thank you for all that you’re doing for all of us. I know I appreciate just knowing someone’s out there like us trying to help us. I know I’ll do what I can to help you too! <3
