Beat the Beetus

Name is Shelby. I am a type 1 diabetic. I have this blog to share my life as a diabetic. Help those that I can. Of any type.Though I will be able to relate to type 1 a lot more. I won't pretend to know something medically if I don't. I won't give straight out medical advice (very limited exceptions) because all of us our different with our bodies. I don't want to risk your life because something works for me. I will ask for advice and give advice. Gain support and give support. It's always nice to have people who can relate to you. <3 Feel free to ask me anything, suggest food and things that help motivate you to take better care of yourself.

I love you all! =D

He only said two things this time that made me question his education from UCLA….

1. My blood sugar has been about 120 everyday when I wake up. Wanted to lower that a little which makes sense. He decided that possible a good idea was to go from 22 units at night to 28. I thought this was a little of a jump. I told him that, he looked at me dumbfounded and then goes…. “You’re right, you think 25 is good?”

Uhmm, I do think so but didn’t you pay crap loads of money to know this yourself? And no offense, I do not discriminate BUT he is originally from India and I can’t understand half of what he says if not more.

2. I used to take a ratio of 1.5: 1. As in one and a half units per carb. It got lowered a few weeks back due to better diet and actually checking and taking a lot better care of myself. It’s now 1:1  and it works perfectly (when I’m not lazy with it). So I thought that 1:1 was average and pretty normal for a Type 1. Not to him apparently a 1:1 is still too high and I should work on lowering it. How is that even possible?

I just didn’t understand. Maybe I am a tad bit ignorant towards it lol.

Hope everyone had a great day! =D
