160 followers! THANK YOU!
I love you all! =D This is amazing. Truly. Also if i could I would give a free vial of insulin to all my followers! That’d be nice and out to dinner. But I can’t =( Is this ok ??? I mean it’s the thought that holds the real meaning, right?
Also I have tried to follow every single one of my followers back. If I am not following you I apologize. Tell me and...
mskassinova asked: LOL sorry this is so long. :S Antioxidants: Also in Leeks, onions, garlic, eggplant, cranberries (berries, not juice, juice is sweetened), pumpkin, carrots, spinach, parsley, tea, fish, lean meats, milk, nuts (walnuts are best), beans, red peppers, apples, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, sesame seeds, bran, whole grains, tomatoes, thyme and oregano, avacados, red meats. That is all! Hope I helped!...
mskassinova asked: Stick to "zero" (as in sugar-free, not no sugar added) drinks. When my electrolytes are out of whack I drink a lot of powerade zero. Egg whites and lean fish and chicken is great for protein. If your electrolytes are in serious need of a boost, see a pharmacist. Most shelf electrolytes have sugar in them. Because you're diabetic, you want the ones that don't have sugar- they...
mskassinova asked: ...I prefer splenda. It does not spike my sugars at all. I prefer equal and sweet n low to sugar twin. Cyclamate and sucralose are the best. Stevia has a weird aftertaste I could never get used to, even though it's healthier. Aspartame-based sweeteners are still considered risky, especially while pregnant. STOP DRINKING FRUIT JUICES. I thought this was good for me too, when I was diagnosed....
mskassinova asked: Hi! First of all, I'm a Type 1 in Canada, so it'll depend on where you are. For pain killers, I generally stick to Ibuprofen (store or generic brands). I also prefer Advil and Motrin to Tylenol. I never take Aspirin. There is some proof that in diabetics considered highest-risk for heart disease and stroke benefitted somewhat from asa (aspirin) therapy, but that it had little to no...

My Birthday!
Not a good day to be diabetic. Cupcakes! =D Yeah, a lot of insulin used today!
=D
And not to mention I got a lot of candy for my birthday. Seriously…… look:
I ate one of the Hershey bars already and gave away my snickers. I also got a couple of Fuze drinks. Which they have like 1g of sugar so that’s ok. But seriously, my family must HATE me haha.
I am glad I...

Questions. Oh and humagloban A1c.....
So I was curious as to if there is a better pain killer (ibuprofen, tylenol, aspirin, etc.) that is better or worse for diabetics? I haven’t found much on it and always forget to ask my doctor. Just the best common medicines to use when diabetic. Cold medicine, pain killers, acid reducers, things like midol and such. Not too up to date on the medicine types. Also your favorite sugar...

heresthethingaboutit asked: hi! just followed and saw your post about your A1C!! congrats! i just got mine down from 13.8 to 11.0 in a month! :) 11 is the lowest it's been in 4 yrs and my lowest ever was a 10. they want me to do it slowly, though, because i guess it can send your body into shock. have you had any negative side effects of such a quick drop in A1C?

Ok, I cried when I saw this. I actually passed out behind the wheel before. Almost hit a child. No one was hurt thank goodness. But still it’s such a scary thing. I don’t remember anything either. But unlike him that is what haunts me the most.
Two thoughts: as soon as they find insulin in his pocket just hurts me. and WHY THE HECK are they laughing at the end?!?
If the story...
My apologies
I havent’ been blogging on here. I am dealing with some nerve problems in my back and potential blood clots. Hasn’t been fun. It’s not from diabetes for once either. So much pain though. I promise soon I shall entertain and answer messages on the regular again.

Any other diabetics ever......
…..watch a movie. Especially a survival or disaster movie and place yourself and that position and basically go “I’d be screwed. 3 days without any food or insulin!”
“I doubt anyone would carry my body in coma state across the snowy mountain.” “My insulin can’t survive that t-shirt.” ……..uhmm i was going to correct that fact that...

Uh oh, I am in serious mode now.
OK , a serious post here. A few topics. Sorry for the length.
1. If someone is ignorant towards diabetes or the type that doesn’t make them dumb or stupid. Before I was diagnosed I didn’t know anything except it had to do with watching amounts of sugar and shots. That’s literally it. I thought it was a a disease/disorder you almost had complete control over getting. Obviously...
Thank you to harry-potter-wholockian! Means a lot

Sometimes when I am talking to my endo....
He only said two things this time that made me question his education from UCLA….
1. My blood sugar has been about 120 everyday when I wake up. Wanted to lower that a little which makes sense. He decided that possible a good idea was to go from 22 units at night to 28. I thought this was a little of a jump. I told him that, he looked at me dumbfounded and then goes…....
andbeholdapalehorse asked: I've had a hypo during sex before, and it's awful. You just have to eat a 5 to 15 carb snack beforehand, depending on how long you are gonna go.
la-corny asked: i just read your post about your A1C, and ohmygosh that's AMAZING! super diabetic kudos to you! A1Cs can be the hardest things and i know i would feel awesome if that happened to me. CONGRATULTIONS!<3
lostdoughnut asked: I became a vegetarian a few months before I was diagnosed with diabetes, for a long time I did not get enough protein in my diet. For more cholesterol-friendly alternatives, there are plenty of tasty veggie burgers, soy-ground beef, soy chicken, and vegetarian sandwich meat available. Bean burritos, bean dip, beans & rice. Lots of Chinese restaurants will substitute tofu for meat upon request....

Derp things done during a hypo...
Alright, so here I am not wanting to get up with the hit in the face of a hypo. It’s just you feel it and YOU KNOW. I just want to start eating right away but a rare moment occurred and I checked my blood sugar before eating anything. I was 55. Thing is that I was just taking my test strip out of the thing and I put in the in meter, then I was thinking WHY isn’t it telling me my...
omgitsmoe asked: hey girl, i saw you post about being low constantly. same here! alwwaaaays hypo. make sure you're getting enough protein! one of my doctors mentioned to me that her rule of thumb is 15 g of protein per meal (she is also a type 1, so i take her word as gold haha). hope that helps! good luck with your upcoming a1c! mine is tomorrow (first since diagnosis in november, yikes!)

AHH!
I have still been putting up with lows every day for almost a week. I have no idea what to do. I started with 40 units of lantus. Now I am down to 24. 0.o
Isn’t that an extreme change? I don’t know what is going up but it doesn’t matter what I eat.
Earlier I was 73. I over compensated the correction per usual because I’ll eat until i feel better which is bad. BUT thing...

Well I know this is true for me....
I better not get anything saying “That’s not how you get diabetes you ignorant bleh bleh blah blah.” I will roll my eyes at you because OBVIOUSLY you’re not getting it. But I would take all of this with me if it was up to me. Find out how to make more! Sounds great. Though insulin might of been great to have as well lol. On a different note I have been pretty much...

Hey to all my followers! =D
Ok, SORRY if the text is hard to read =( Bleh. I failed kind of. But I love you all and THANK YOU!
grandtobebland asked: I just read your post about chugging a drink and being surprised that you drank it all when you're low, and I just did that the other day. I had a can of root beer and I went to go get it because my blood sugar was low again and I picked it up and was like "Hey! Who drank all my root beer?" thinking it was one of my sisters and then I realized I was the one who drank it.

It happens when you get a low.......
It hasn’t happened too much but IT HAS happened. Raisinetts (however you spell it) once. That was uhmm not so good ha. Skittles…… I believe half a nutty bar once on my back. haha. Have any of you been low chugged a drink and were surprised you drank it all when you go for more? It happens all the time with cans. I’m like “WTF?!?” Haha. Hope everyone is...

This had me laughing.
I have actually been asked once “Why don’t you just run and eat better?” Well honestly if that would get rid of it I would of ran the 20 something miles home from the hospital when I got released. Ha, though I would of died from that. My body couldn’t function right for quite awhile. Comas will do that to you.

One thing....and a joke!
So… I hate I mean hate taking a shower or bath getting my hair nice……. I’m so fresh and so clean, clean.
I decide to take a nap and get a hypo during it waking up all sweaty and crappy looking. The shower 3 hours before completely pointless now.
Also getting a hypo in the shower is one of the worst for me. I’m just in there like “maybe, just maybe, I can...

So to the diabetic girls.....
Ok, so boys I guess you can keep reading but really it won’t be interesting or very awesome for you to read but I know sometime curiosity gets the best of us. Anyways girls, do your numbers get all weird when you have your time of the month? It affects some of the girls that I know that are diabetic but not a lot of them. Didn’t know if this was rare or not.
I get really low...

One thing that sucks....
Well two…..
Finally getting to sleep and shortly after waking up to a hypo. =(
The other would be waking up to a hypo, wanting to stay up, but you were shaking so bad and the hypo was completely against you so you instantly fall asleep. I did this before finishing my carbs too. Luckily it was enough to get it back up. Hypos like that though scare me and make me feel like poo poo.
Yes, I...

Woke up at 120 this morning.
Could be a little lower. But I am just happy I checked it it wasn’t high. I am trying to eat healthier and getting all other things on track.
